After an eventful first few hours of the race, the #12 Porsche 991 GT3 R of Matteo Cairoli leads the way for Manthey Racing, having benefitted from completing a fuel stop under the first Code 60 of the race. This was brought out after the #48 ZRT Motorsport Honda Integra came to a stop out on track.
Making it a Porsche 1-2 out front is second place man Daniel Allemann in the #911 Herberth Motorsport Porsche, who led by around half a minute from the #964 GRT Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini of Adrian Amstutz, before the Lamborghini made contact with the #303 Red Camel-Jordans Seat Leon Cup car.
This has brought out a Code 60, with the #2 Black Falcon Mercedes making a stop in which Jeroen Bleekemolen replaced Manuel Metzger. The second Black Falcon Mercedes, the number #3 machine of Hubert Haupt, now sits fourth.
Many teams are now taking the opportunity to pit under the Code 60, what is sometimes referred to as a ‘free pitstop’ as the car loses far less time in the pits when the others are lapping at 60 km/h.
Other incidents of note were the second Code 60 which was brought out after a huge fire on the left-rear corner for the HB Racing Lamborghini of Andrea Amici, after he had a puncture which then caused the engine fire.
The third Code 60 was then brought out after the Vortex Racing V8 car stopped near the end of the lap, and was nearly collected by the erstwhile SP3-GT4 leader, the #123 Nissan 370z driven by Ricardo Sanchez, which suffered a rear suspension failure and was forced to pit.
This meant that Tom Hibbert inhereted the lead of the SP3-GT4 class in his Ginetta, with Edmond Moutran leading the 991 class for Memac Oglivy Duel Racing.
