Baku GP FP2: Verstappen Tops The Grand Slam

Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen topped the crash ridden FP2 session before slamming into the Turn 1 wall.

Red Bull showed a brilliant pace at the Baku Street Circuit claiming P1 and P3!

However Verstappen couldn’t stop crashing into Turn 1 in the dying minutes if the session.

Sebastian Vettel had an amazing first stint staying at the top of the chart for a while but could only manage 5th behind teammate Kimi Raikkonen.
As for Mercedes,  Valteri Bottas was the better of two. Finishing P2 he had a decent long run into the session. Lewis Hamilton challenged with his pace in the first half but was only able to manage P10 at the end of the session.
The turn 8 became a horror for many drivers. Sergio Perez crashed into the Turn in FP1,  in FP2 more drivers were caught in trap.  Renault’s Jolyon Palmer crashed in the turn halfway through the session damaging the front suspension of the car. The session was then red flagged.
When the session was started,  everyone got out on Supersoft tyres.  Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon were fighting for 2nd position.

Unfortunately for McLaren,  Fernando doing a decent stint had to retire half an hour before the chequered flag due to smoke coming out of the engine.
Everyone then went for longer runs looking for the perfect traction setting.
