Max Coates of Ciceley Motorsport had a brilliant second half at Snetterton.
Max had a good start in Qualifying and was consistent in his lap times. In Race 1 he managed to qualify 5th, which gave him a third row start.
Qualifying for the second race is decided by the second best time in the session. Coates was rewarded with P2 for his consistent lao times throughout the session.
He commented, : “It was such a close session and for a lot of it my name was at the top of the timing screens. But it’s nice to be back on the front row of the grid and P5 for race one shows we’ve got genuine pace here.”
1st lap incidents at Snetterton caused Ciceley driver Max Coates to drop to 7th, where he finished.
Race 2 however turned out to be one of his best races. The drivers championship leader Bushell was able to get past Max on the first bend but determined as he was he won back second position in order to fight for the win.
After 6 consecutive fastest laps, Coates narrowed down the difference from 2 seconds to just four tenths of a second between him and Bushell. The Pyro driver was however was able to deny Max the opportunity by just 0.258 seconds on finish. Max was still happy with the performance as he added,
“When Lee stopped I was suddenly into second and so gave it everything – we’ve had great pace here this weekend and I was really going for the win. I’m sure with one more lap I’d have had Mike.”
