Daniel Ricciardo dominated the FP2 session after an impressive performance in FP1.
The Australian set a time of 1m18.455s on Supersoft tyres in the second stint of the session. Sebastian Vettel tipped in 2nd behind the RedBull driver 0.183s slower than him.
Valteri Bottas, Kimi Raikkonen had a bit of a hassle for P3 while Hamilton stayed at P5 with a best lap recorded on Soft tyres.
Dutch driver Max Verstappen ended up 6th on the sheet, about half a second clear of Ricciardo. Nico Hulkenberg and Fernando Alonso were P7 and P8 respectively with McLaren showing a significant performance boost. Carlos Sainz and Stoffel Vandoorne completed the top 10.
Pascal Wehrlein had a ‘massive’ crash exiting turn 11 which saw him crash into the tyre wall. The car eas moderately damaged and the session was red flagged. Wehrlein eas further sent to the medical centre for further examination.
Renault’s Jolyon Palmer didn’t have good session either as he slid into the barriers trying to recover from a rear grip loss. The car was heavily damaged and a disappointment Palmer went into the pits.
Haas worked on Kevin Magnussen’s car throughout the session, which was damaged earlier in a crash by Antonio Giovinazzi. Magnussen got out on track with 20 mins to go and learned some valuables.
