Harron Homes to sponsor Renault UK Clio Cup Graduate Champion in series return with Ciceley Motorsport

House Builder Harron Homes will sponsor the current Renault UK Clio Cup Graduate Champion, Max Coates, as he targets overall championship success with Ciceley Motorsport in 2017. The 22 year old North Yorkshireman made his series debut last season finishing third overall.

Max and Ciceley Motosport’s debut UK Clio Cup season saw them challenge the established front runners and championship favourites on a regular basis with seven visits to the podium including a maiden win at his home circuit, Croft. He sent an early warning to his rivals with pole position at round two of the championship at Donington Park which he backed up with his first podium two events later. He then finished on the podium at every race meeting during the remainder of the year and was the only driver to finish every race inside the top ten. He also became the Graduate Cup Champion, for new drivers under the age of 23, having taken 11 class wins. His results were recognised by the British Racing Drivers Club gave Max ‘Rising Star’ status.

Max Coates said, “I am so happy to be announcing my 2017 racing plans this early as a result of new and continued sponsorship. I have enjoyed a fantastic year in the Renault UK Clio Cup both on and off the track and I am looking forward to being back with the Ciceley Motosport team who have been awesome this year. Experience gained, a continued driver-team relationship and an increased budget thanks to Harron Homes, Primex Plastics and PLASgran Recycling puts us in a very good position to fight for the title in 2017, that is our aim!”

2016 sponsors Primex Plastics Limited and PLASgran Recycling Limited will continue their partnership alongside new Principal Sponsors, Harron Homes, a house builder developing superior quality homes across North, South and West Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. Max is set to announce more partners over the coming weeks.

Katie Charlesworth, Harron Homes Sales Director, said “After speaking directly with Max it became abundantly clear that he portrays a sheer dedication to his chosen profession and shares our ethos in regards to having a “passion for excellence”, we are therefore extremely proud to become his Principal Sponsor for 2017.”

Adam Morgan, Ciceley Motorsport team principal and British Touring Car Championship driver also commented “It’s fantastic to keep Max on board for 2017 – he was a revelation in 2016 and he will undoubtedly go into next season among the favourites for the crown. He’s got a wise head on young shoulders and everyone at Ciceley is very excited about working with him again.”

Renault Sport’s UK Motorsport Championship Manager Will Fewkes added: “What a great first name to commit to our UK Clio Cup grid for 2017. Max emerged as a very popular character among the huge trackside crowds and ITV4 audiences that follow the action during our 2016 season and they will, I’m sure, be delighted to see him returning.”

After the Christmas break Max and the team will begin testing with the UK Clio Cup’s new Michelin tyre in preparation for the 2017 season which will start at Brands Hatch on 1st and 2nd April 2017.
