Reigning MotoGP world champion Jorge Lorenzo is set to make his debut in an F1 car as the Spanish MotoGP rider will get to pilot Lewis Hamilton’s 2014 Championship winning Mercedes at Silverstone.
Lorenzo, who will now be replicating Movistar Yamaha teammate Valentino Rossi, who has previously tested many versions of the Ferrari Formula One car, has a small amount of car experience but has already tested less powerful cars at the Silverstone Circuit in order to try familiarize himself at a track that presents a completely different challenge on four wheels compared to two.
This will be a dream come true for the Mallorcan rider, with his sponsor Monster Energy reportedly playing a huge role in the opportunity, with the energy drinks giant sponsoring both Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team and Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team.
After the test, Lorenzo will jet off to the Twin Ring Motegi Circuit in Japan to begin the flyaway stint of the 2016 MotoGP season.
Lorenzo currently occupies third place in MotoGP World Championship behind Repsol Honda Rider Marc Marquez and Movistar Yamaha Teammate Rossi.
