Kimi Raikkonen feels it is too early to tell if Ferrari can challenge Mercedes but says the Scuderia team are a lot stronger than the previous season.
The Finnish driver set the fastest lap time over the entire pre-season testing with a 1:18.634, Raikkonen praised the pace of the car but can’t tell if they are a match for the Silver Arrows.
It is always difficult to tell who has the outright pace from testing, because of different fuel loads and aero racks which can disrupt the speed of the car.
Mercedes are still considered to have the best overall package but whether the new regulations can halter the dominance of the World Champions time will tell.
Red Bull looked to be sand bagging at the test but have promised to be a lot more competitive once they arrive in Australia.
All three teams will look to challenge for top spot in Melbourne but if Ferrari’s pace is anything to go by, then it will be a close battle for the first victory of the season.
