Former Ferrari technical director James Allison will join Mercedes ahead of the 2017 season.
Allison left Ferrari in July and will replace Paddy Lowe as technical director, Lowe is heading to Williams for the new season leaving a vacant position at the World Champions.
The 48-year-old masterminded Ferrari’s transformation in 2015 winning three races and challenging the dominate Silver Arrows.
He has had several spells at top teams working at Ferrari when Schumacher was dominating between 2000-04.
Then moving to Renault as Technical Director when Fernando Alonso won consecutive titles in 2005 and 2006.
Allison will work with team boss Toto Wolff ahead of a challenging 2017 season, Allison has the experience and knowledge to succeed at any team but replacing Paddy Lowe will be tough job.
Mercedes have dominated the hybrid era but with a host of new regulations in 2017, it will be a tough task to continue their dominance.
