Paddy Lowe has left his position as Mercedes executive director and is expected to join Williams it is understood today.
Lowe joined the silver arrows in 2013 to work alongside Toto Wolff and his leave was expected with his contract up in May. His potential love to Williams may also help speed up the move of Valterri Bottas to Mercedes to replace Nico Rosberg.
Lowe started at Williams in 1987 during a period that seen Mansell win the title in 1992. He then spent twenty years at McLaren which brought more success with three more drivers title with Hakkinen (98 and 99) and Hamilton in 08. His time at Mercedes may be short but it has brought more success with three more drivers and constructors championships.
His move back to the Grove based Williams team coincides with Pat Symonds leaving the squad as well with former Ferrari director James Allison rumoured to be in line to replace Lowe at Mercedes.
Mercedes have refused to comment at this time but with the news rife this is expected to be confirmed in due course officially.
