Kawasaki Racing’s Jonathan Rea was fastest in this morning’s warm up practice ahead of this afternoon’s race two. Rea posted a best time of 1:50.672s which he completed on his final lap. The Northern Irish man will be hoping to secure his sixth consecutive victory and extend his championship lead further.
The Ducati duo of Marco Melandri and Chaz Davies completed the top three, posting times of 1:50.713 and 1:50.830 respectively. Tom Sykes was a respectable fourth ahead of pole man Alex Lowes, who is starting from pole in race two and the Brit will be hoping he can score his first podium of the season.
Spaniard Xavi Fores was sixth, with Honda’s Stefan Bradl and Nicky Hayden finishing seventh and eighth. Jordi Torres was ninth, with Leon Camier rounding out the top ten aboard his MV Agusta.
Roman Ramos was 11th, while Leandro Mercado suffered a late crash in the session but still finished a solid 12th. BMW’s Markus Reiterberger finished 13th ahead of the struggling Eugene Laverty who has endured a torrid weekend aboard the Aprilia, he was 14th while Randy Krummenacher completed the top 15.
Michael van der Mark was the only rider not to complete a lap this morning.
