Toyota reversed the fortunes from practice yesterday in LMP1 as they took a 1-2 in final practice for this weekends 6 hours of Nurburgring.
The number seven entry of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez topped the time sheets ahead of the sister number eight car by four tenths of a second with Lopez at the wheel for the fastest lap. However the lap time was still three tenths slower than the fastest lap yesterday by the Porsche team set by Brendon Hartley.
Porsche have brought a high downforce package to the Ring for this weekends race and it has seen the team quick and stable in the car.
In LMP2 it was the Rebellion team that was fastest with Bruno Senna at the wheel for the second time this weekend. The Brazilian set a time just a couple tenths faster than the Signatech #35 entry. Its a good result for the team after the #31 missed second practice yesterday meaning they have a 100% record for topping sessions this weekend.
Also don’t expect a repeat of Le Mans with LMP2 in with a chance of overall victory this weekend as status quo is expected to return to the field for this much shorter race. LMP2 Le Mans winners #38 took the third spot.
Ford took top spot in the GTE Pro catogary with the #66 topping the sheets with Oliver Pla setting the fastest lap. This was nearly four tenths faster than the second placed #71 AF Corse Ferrari.
In GTE AM the fastest time was set by the the #77 Dempsey Proton Racing Porsche with Italian Matteo Cairoli at the wheel. There was no major dramas reported during the session with everyone setting between 18 and 30 laps during the one hour session. Qualifying takes place later today with the race tomorrow at 1pm CET.
