The #1 Porsche currently in the hands of Nick Tandy, is the last LMP1 car standing as half race distance approaches.
The Englishman holds an astounding eight lap lead over the #31 Vaillante Rebellion Oreca. This is as a result of the other five LMP1 cars having issues that have either forced the car to retire or drop a long way down the field.
The #2 Porsche was the first hybrid to lose out after a loss of drive from the front axle. The #8 Toyota had their challenge foiled thanks to a motor failure and the remaining Toyotas remarkably capitulated within minutes of each other. After the #7 ground to a halt, the #9 car had a race ending collision, leaving the #1 car out front.
If they were to hit problems then rebellion Racing would inherit the lead. Their pair of Orecas are battling over the LMP2 lead and overall second place. Jackie Chan DC Racing run just outside the overall podium with Thomas Laurent currently at the wheel.
GTE Pro is a close affair with the pair of Aston Martins and the #51 AF Corse Ferrari never being split by more than 6 seconds. Patrick Pilet runs fourth, a minute or so behind. JMW have a healthy lead in GTE Am, after many potential leaders found problems.
