Day 1 at the Autosport Show at the NEC in Birmingham is complete with a whole host of teams revealing liveries and confirming driver line ups. Here is a roundup of all the news.

The first driver announcement of the day was from AmD Tuning who confirmed that reigning Renault Clio Cup champion Ant Whorton-Eales would be joining the team for 2017, completing their two care line up alongside 2016 driver Ollie Jackson. The 22 year-old beat former AmD Tuning driver Mike Bushell for his 2016 crown and becomes the fifth Clio champion to driver for the team. Furthermore as a rookie, Whorton-Eales is eligible for the Jack Sears Trophy and will be hoping to continue in the same vein as 2015 Clio champion Ash Sutton.

The Essex based team are hoping to reach the “next level” in 2017 following their expansion and confirmation of Whorton-Eales with the aim of regular points finishes for both cars during the coming season.

The next announcement came an hour later as Motorbase confirmed that Martin Depper and Luke Davenport would, complete the team’s line up, as the duo partner Mat Jackson in the Shredded Wheat backed team. The team expands to three cars for 2017, following Andrew Jordan’s departure to WSR.

Depper joins after switching from Eurotech having spent the last three seasons with team while Davenport joins the BTCC after previously racing in the Ginetta GT Supercup and the British GT Championship.

After their first title successes in 2016, Motorbase are hoping to continue their fine form into the New Year and with an expanded program, team boss David Bartrum feels this is a realistic possibility and that a title challenge is not an unachievable aim. Bartrum went onto say “We now have a formidable trio with Martin and Luke joining him and have three drivers who we would very much like to continue with beyond the 2017 season.”
