The TCR Middle East series heads into round 2 in Abu Dhabi this weekend with a number of significant changes to the driver line ups.
Team Engstler will slim down from five to three Volkswagon Golfs with their top two drivers in the team, championship leader Brandon Gdovic and second placed Luca Engstler keeping their spots with Stefan Goede completing the squad as Filip Sladecka and Mat’o Homola sitting out.
Reigning TCR Germany champion Josh Files will also be reunited with a Honda Civic although this will be run by the Lap57 team, meaning the Brit is for now at least not racing for Target Competition as he firms up his plans for the rest of 2017. He will be joined in the squad by UAE racer Mohammed Al Owais, who usually competes in the UAE Touring Car Championship.
Georgian driver Davit Kajaia will also make his season debut in Abu Dhabi at the wheel of the Mulsanne Racing Alfa Romeo Guilietta, replacing lady racer Michela Cerruti who claimed an impressive second place in race one at the first round in Dubai.
Luigi Ferrera will also not be present in round 2 in the Top Run Motorsport Subaru WRX with the team opting to give 16 year old Giacomo Altoe a chance in the car despite his lack of experience with just one season racing under his belt and Ferrera doing the majority of development work over the past two seasons.
