Having been the first team to confirm drivers for the WTCR season, Comtoyou Racing have announced another pair of drivers for the WTCR season. Frederic Vervisch and Nathanael Berton will pilot another pair of Audi RS3 LMS’s.
Frederic Vervisch raced with the team last season alongside Stefano Comini. Comini finished the year 3rd, with Vervisch down in 10th. Vervisch is an Audi Sport Customer driver, and will continue to dovetail the WTCR program with a GT Program. This will be his first full season in international touring cars, having only joined after Round 3 last season.
Frenchman Nathanael Berthon makes the switch from single seaters to touring cars. He joins Aurelien Panis, who made the switch last season. Berthon has a wealth of experience, having raced in GP2, Formula E, ELMS and scoring a 5th place finish at Le Mans in 2015 for Murphy Prototypes. He joined Comtoyou Racing for the Andros Trophy, finishing 3rd overall in the Elite Pro Class. Last season he spent most of his time in endurance racing focusing on the European Le Mans series with a showing in the Blancpain GT Series. He was also a test driver for the now defunct HRT Formula 1 Team.
The announcement now confirms the Audi RS3 as the most popular on the grid, with 6 confirmed entries, it also means that 14 of 26 seats have now been filled. With the season starting on April 8th, it shouldn’t be long before we know who will be taking up the other 12 seats on the grid.
