Final Voyage – Lydden Hill to host British RX event for final time.

A final voyage home is expected for the 2017 World RX schedule. It has been confirmed that for the final time before a change in venue, the British round of the 2017 FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy will be hosted at Lydden Hill.

Along with this news it has also been confirmed that long time rally driver, and former British Touring Car Champion Andrew Jordan will be behind the wheel of the MJP Racing Team Austria Ford Fiesta RX Supercar. He will be driving alongside FIA World Rallycross regular, Kevin Eriksson.

Jordan, who started his career in 2004, is referred to as a wealth of experience in the sport. 13 years ago Jordan began his career in a 50bhp MINI in the British Junior Rallycross Championship. He has competed at Lydden Hill in the past having snatched a podium finish manning an Ford Fiesta prepared by Olsberg MSE. His career accolades, and experiences make him the perfect candidate to take Timo Scheider’s seat, as he had a conflict with the date.

Jordan was quoted as having said: “It’s brilliant to join MJP Racing Team Austria for the British round of the 2017 FIA World Rallycross Championship at Lydden Hill.”

He continued: “Rallycross Supercars are so impressive to drive, the level of cars and teams has stepped up massively over the last couple of years and I’m very lucky to get to drive one for MJP Racing Team Austria. Rallycross holds great memories for me from when I started racing at 14 years old to standing on a World Rallycross podium, I love the sport and I’m hugely proud to compete at my home event. For sure it is just a one off but I think we will have great potential to make some great result. I’d like to thank the team and its sponsors for giving me this opportunity.”

This will be the final year that Lydden Hill will host the event as it will shift venues to the well known Silverstone circuit for the 2018 Calendar.

The news of Andrew Jordan’s return, integrated with the shift in venue for the coming years, sets up Lydden Hill for record attendance.

Tickets for World RX of Great Britain which will take place from the 26th until the 28th of  May are now available for purchase by visiting the Lydden Hill website at:
