The Brit dominated yet another session of the day defeating arch rival Sebastian Vettel with a 1m05.483s.
Vettel proved to be the underdog but managed to keep Valteri Bottas at P3. On his second stint with the ultrasoft tyres, Bottas nearly took down Vettel, but a mistake in the final sector glitched his lap time.
Red Bull drivers surprised Scuderia Ferrari by relegating Kimi Raikkonen to P6. Max Verstappen outpaced Daniel Ricciardo to keep him fifth.
Kevin Magnussen improved throughout the session and finished seventh overall, thanks to the ultrasoft run. McLaren Honda, unsurprisingly had another pitfall as they had to fix Fernando Alonso’s front wing in the middle of the session. Alonso, however was able to clinch the eighth spot in the session.
Nico Hulkenberg started with P18 on his first runs but he was able to improve on ultrasoft stint and ended up ninth in the session. However, teammate Jolyon Palmer spent most of the time in the garage as the team tried to fix his car.
Daniil Kvyat of Toro Rosso suffered a brake failure whereas Sainz damaged the car at Turn 9.
Marcus Ericsson had a disappointing session with a couple of slip offs which helped teammate Wehrlein outpace him.
