Lewis Hamilton led the way for Mercedes as Sebastian Vettel had a glimpse at the top spot.
Hamilton clocked in a 1m37.877s lap, which set the fastest lap record at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. Hamilton showed his dominance in all the stints of the session, starting first on the Ultrasoft tyres.
Sebastian Vettel set a time that was 0.149s short of the Briton’s timed lap. It was an incredible lap by Daniel Ricciardo who was chasing a 2018 spec Mercedes as Verstappen had issues.
Kimi Raikkonen who is fighting Ricciardo this weekend for the fourth position in the championship was 0.475 off of the leader’s time only a tenth down to Ricciardo.
Two tenths down from Kimi was Valteri Bottas who is unconfirmed at Mercedes next year. Mercedes will be closely watching his performance over the weekend to get a better idea for next season.
Force India held 7th and 8th position as both teammates had quite a battle before Perez took hold of the better position by just 0.01 of a second.
Max Verstappen only got some decent laps but that didn’t help him improve over tge session as he ended 6th at the chequered flag.
Nico ‘Hulk’ Hulkenberg and Alonso completed the top 10.
