GIOVINAZZI WINS AS GASLY HAS A HORROR RACE!

Giovinazzi was 14 points behind Gasly but is now 11 points ahead of the Frenchman in the drivers championship.

On the formation lap, Artem Markelov was forced to retire which resulted in 2 extra formation laps that would cut the race down to a 29 lap event.

When the 5 lights eventually went out, Gasly had a poor start from pole position and Raffaele Marciello was the man leading into turn 1 but he locked up into turn 2 and gave the lead to Giovinazzi and 2nd position to Sergey Sirotkin.

When we got to the pitstop window, Galsy was one of the first to pit to try and get an undercut but nothing would work for Gasly who would eventually finish in 11th position.

Giovinazzi would do the complete opposite to his teammate by staying out 3 extra laps than his rivals and even though he came out behind Sergey Sirotkin, he overtook him with 3 laps to go as Sirotkin’s tyres were degrading badly losing grip in turn 1 and Giovinazzi passed him into turn 2.

Norman Nato had a rather good but quiet race after finishing 3rd by pitting on lap 8 and undercutting Raffaele Marciello.

After a dissapointing year, Alex Lynn finished in 4th position after an awesome battle with Oliver Rowland that somehow did not result in any contact.

Rowland, after losing the battle to Alex Lynn was just going to drop like a stone as he pitted on lap 6 which meant he had worn tyres for the last few laps and on the last lap, he spun out of reverse grid pole and eventually finished in 12th position.

Jordan King finished in 5th position by passing Raffaele Marciello on the last lap which like his teammate was a fairly quiet race for the Brit.

Luca Ghiotto finished in 7th position but started on the alternate strategy after starting in 11th position. Talking about a good comeback, Mitch Evans who had a brake failure in qualifying, also was on the alternate strategy and finished in 8th position and will start on reverse grid pole due to Oliver Rowland’s spin on the last lap.

Gustav Malja and Sergio Canamasas finished 9th and 10th respectively after pitting onto the medium tyres quite early on in the race but the tyres lasted and both of them got points.

Elsewhere Nicholas Latifi finished in 14th position after a spin early on in the race running in 7th position and Nobuharu Matsushita had car problems that halted his race.
