There have been some rumours circulating in the past few days about a move for the current Force India driver Nico Hulkenberg. These rumours suggest that Renault wishes to take Hulkenberg on as a driver as a part of their 2017 lineup. This comes as a shock to most, considering that Force India have already confirmed that Sergio Perez will be staying with them, which has led most people to believe that their lineup would remain as it is now. Over the last few hours multiple sources have been reporting that the deal for Hulkenberg’s transfer is almost complete.
Renault only refreshed their line-up this year after purchasing the former Lotus F1 team, bringing in Kevin Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer. All does not look well for those two though, with Renault reported wanting to sign Esteban Ocon as another new driver for 2017. Reportedly these two weren’t Renault’s first choices, with Carlos Sainz Jr, Valtteri Bottas and Stoffel Vandoorne apparently being some of the drivers that Renault would have wanted.
