Josh Files’ first weekend racing in the TCR Middle East Series has gone perfectly with pole position, an eventual race one win after a tight battle with Davit Kajaia and now a race two win to add to that from seventh on the grid.
Before the race got underway Giacomo Altoe pulled his Top Run Motorsport Subaru WRX into the pits with mechanical problems ending what has been an impressive debut weekend for the 16 year old.
Stefan Goede started from pole in his Engstler Motorsport Volkswagon Golf courtesy of the reversed grid with Files’s teammate Mohammed Al Owaisi stalling, in stark contrast Files got off to a flyer of a start, taking the lead from Luca Engstler at turn six.
Davit Kajaia in the Mulsanne Racing Alfa Romeo Guilietta was also making good progress, starting just one spot ahead o Files, and took second from Engstler on lap two.
Brandon Gdovic still leads the championship with fourth place ahead of the third Engstler car of Goede, with Engstler firmly planted in second.
However, with two wins Files has now put himself in third in the championship just 12 behind the leader despite not competing in Dubai.
