Stewart Lines has announced that he is to return to Team Parker Maximum Motorsport for the next round of the 2017 British Touring Car Championship season at Snetterton following the departure of Josh Cook to Triple Eight, after initially stepping down from driving duties at the end of 2016.
Cook, who spent last season at the MG outfit, was recalled to the team following Daniel Lloyd’s departure, leaving Lines’ outfit without a driver heading into Croft. The team were able to bring in Swede Dennis Strandberg however this was only ever going to be a one-off appearance due to the 23-year-olds STCC commitments.
Upon his return lines said, “We tried to make it work with a younger driver, and I thought the summer break would have given us time to find another racer with some budget, but that hasn’t been the case,” said Lines.
“Rather than being left high and dry, the best option was for me to do the rest of the year to make sure we can fulfil our commitment to be on the grid.”
Prior to his return next weekend, Lines has previously competed in two seasons with Maximum Motorsport, between 2015 and 2016, in which he achieved a best result of 16th at both Thruxton and Rockingham during his rookie campaign.
