Former DS Virgin driver, Jose Maria Lopez, is set to replace Neel Jani at the Dragon team from next week’s Marrakesch EPrix.
Porsche factory driver, Neel Jani joined Dragon for the fourth season of Formula E, replacing Audi factory driver, Loic Duval, but had a disappointing weekend in Hong Kong finishing both races in 18th place.
Speaking to Autosport, Jani said: “As a result of changes that were unforeseen, Dragon Racing and I have decided that it is in the best interest for the future of the team and myself that we end our alliance.
“I would like to thank Dragon Racing for giving me the opportunity to experience Formula E, and I wish them all the best for the continuing season.”
It is looking likely that two-time podium finisher, and former DS Virgin driver, Jose Maria Lopez is set to take his seat, after leaving DS Virgin, and failing to find a seat for the 2017-18 Season. Lopez finished ninth in the 2016-17 championship and proved that he was a competitive driver in the championship qualifying third on debut in Hong Kong in 2016, and was a constant match for former teammate and current championship leader, Sam Bird.
The Marrakesch EPrix takes place on Saturday 13th January 2018.
