ALEX LYNN WON THE FINAL RACE OF THE SEASON BUT IT WAS OVERSHADOWED BY THE 2 PREMA DRIVERS BATTLING IT OUT FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP.
Alex Lynn led from lights to flag after a tough season. The Brit had a poor start but he still led into turn 1 and didn’t look back after that in his final race in GP2.
Johnny Cecotto finished an impressive 2nd after overtaking Sergey Sirotkin on the final lap after joinig Rapax for the final two races of the season.
Nobuharu Matsushita finished in 4th after a superb weekend for the Japanese driver after a tough second half to the season ever since the safety car incidents in Baku.
Norman Nato finished off the season in a solid 5th position after a very impressive season for the Frenchman.
Pierre Gasly’s teammate and rival Antonio Giovinazzi struggled off the start and dropped from 4th to 6th. He couldn’t get past Norman Nato ahead of him and behind him, Artem Markelov was not afraid to throw one down the inside and lost Giovinazzi some time. However, he needed third to secure the championship and that was not going to happen.
Pierre Gasly lost 8th on the final lap to Mitch Evans but none of that mattered. Gasly was just making sure that he maintained the gap and looked after his tyres. He did that all race just like a champion and a worthy champion after difficult previous seasons.
Elsewhere, Raffaele Marciello had a difficult race struggling to look after his tyres but after Johnny Cecotto’s last lap pass on Sergey Sirotkin, the Italian still secured 3rd in the championship.
