Power takes Pole at Mid-Ohio

Three times Champion, Will Power, has taken pole at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio with a time of 64.1720 seconds, his fifth pole this season and the 49th of his Indy car career. The Team Penske driver will be joined on the front row by his team mate, Joesef Newgarden.

Indy500 winner, Takuma Sato qualified qualified 3rd for Andretti Autosport Honda with fellow Honda powered driver, Graham Rahal, taking 4th for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.

Helio Castroneves, who has won twice at Mid-Ohio, qualified 5th for Penske Chevrolet, with four times Champion, Scott Dixon, extending his streak of reaching all seven Firestone Fast Six sessions this season qualifying 6th for Chip Ganassi Racing.

Defending Champion, Simon Pagenaud missed the Firestone Fast Six by less than five-hundredths of a second and will start 7th for Team Penske.

Tony Kanaan was penalized for causing a yellow flag that impeded other drivers’ laps after the Chip Ganassi Racing driver spun sideways on Turn 2 on his final lap.
