Four time world champion Sebastian Vettel has denied a three year contract with his current team Ferrari. Instead preferring a one year contract for the 2018 season. This leaves the 2019 season free for him.
2019 also happens to be the year that Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes contract expires. With Hamilton’s recent statement that he wanted to end his career at Ferrari is it possible that the two current championship rivals could jumpship and join their opponents team. Ferrari boss Sergio Marchionne has announced that Ferrari will confirm their driver line up for 2018 at their home race of Monza in September.
Until September nothing is for sure but the most likely candidates at this point are keeping the two current drivers, Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen.
