Experienced Swiss racer Mattias Schlappi and his Schlappi Race-Tec team have announced that they will run two SEAT Leon Cup Racers in TCR Germany for 2017 with Fabian Danz already confirmed as one of the team’s drivers.
Danz has previously driven in the Renault Clio Cup and Volkswagon Scirocco R-Cup with varying degrees of success which makes him no stranger to touring car racing, before defecting to the VLN Endurance Series in 2016 in a BMW M235i.
Although there is a huge amount of competition in the TCR Germany series, with 32 cars already announced well ahead of the season opener, Danz feels positive about the challenge ahead after some testing and has placed his aim for 2017 as finishing in the top eight in the championship.
Team boss Mattias Schlappi, a former ADAC Procar champion in 2005 for Maurer Motorsport, has said that no second driver is currently confirmed and it looks like he will probably not race himself, concentrating on team manager duties instead.
However he did state “Our team is ready for this new challenge” and went on to say that they were “very motivated to enter this great championship.”
