Van Dam takes TCR Thailand crown

Carlo Van Dam has claimed the inaugural TCR Thailand title in the delayed finale of the Bangsaen street race.

In the Singha Motorsport SEAT Leon Van Dam started third in the top five reversed grid second race with the two Kratingdaeng SEATs of Chen Jiang Hong and Grant Supophongs on the front row.

At the start Van Dam and title rival Jack Lemvard worked their way to the front with Lemvard’s Vattana Motorsport Leon leading the way as the pair were tied on points.

Race one winner Katandhee Kusiri in his Billionnaire Boy Racing Honda Civic also came through from his fifth spot starting position, eventually taking Van Dam on lap five for second then taking the lead from Lemvard the following lap.

Lemvard held on to claim second from Van Dam and was originally thought to be champion, however, due to the dropped score ruling in the championship Van Dam was later announced as the winner of the inaugural title.
